Storm schedule bits and bites:
- season opens at home against Erie Sept. 29
- last game March 21 in Erie
- Guelph finishes the year with six games in nine days
- only have two 3 in 3s, one in November, one in March
- Play afternoon game in Kingston on New Year's Eve
- play home afternoon game against Erie on Family Day, Feb. 16
- last game before Christmas is Dec. 19 in Sudbury (not the usual Soo at home)
- Return from Christmas break …

Addressed two needs: size and scoring.
Katzin seems likely to head to Penn State at this point and the team had trouble scoring WITH him last season.
It also makes them more experienced. Charlie Paquette was the only overage candidate heading into training camp.
Assume the three conditional picks for Miedema are based on him returning to the OHL for his overage season. The 14th rounder just gives them his rights.

Guelph Storm likely to add two new imports in the July 2 CHL Import Draft as new rules allow teams to carry three imports now, up from two.

Tony, the orientation camp appeared to be very different this year. Was it only one day without on ice drills and scrimmages?if not, were the on ice scrimmages not a good opportunity for fans, players and management to get an initial look at all the prospects?
Was there a list of attendees posted?
Also disappointed the team provided very little post draft player scouting reports etc as in previous years.
Appeared to be another very good …

If the season opened today ....
As it stands today - before any trades, import draft, training camp surprises, make-the-NHL surprises and anyone leaving/coming for/from the NCAA - here's what the Storm roster would likely look like to start next season.
But there will definitely be a trade or two (my guess is a defenceman for an OA defenceman and older forward), NCAA coming/going (fingers crossed for Jack Murtagh! coming and Lev Katzin …

Some draft thoughts:
- when Guelph took Tag Bertuzzi second overall there were a lot of people questioning the pick. No one is questioning Jaakko Wycisk.
- 78 Amercicans drafted this year compared to 33 last year.
- call them Spidey senses, but George Burnett (who is the poster child for holding his cards close to his chest) almost seemed to have an undercurrent of excitement when talking about third round pick Charlie Sullivan and the grit …

Who is Guelph picking at 2nd overall in the draft Friday night?
My guess (based on what others say, write and infer) is either Jaakko Wycisk or Tristan Delisle. Both not huge but very skilled and not undersized.
Delisle apparently plays bigger than he is and has a pro-level shot already. Wycisk considered a super playmaker.

As expected, the Storm are juggling their draft cupboard. With three picks in the third round on Friday, Guelph has traded one of them to Oshawa for a second round pick in 2028.
Added value for future deals. I would expect another one to come before Friday. Sure isn't room for four 16 year olds next season. Maybe two.

It's a different fan base these days. Yes, you still have your 2,500 diehards and season ticket holders, but lots of people take the family once or twice a year, lots of groups, companies and organizations. And that's a good thing.

So the Storm will pick second overall in the draft, as determined by last night's lottery. They have only ever picked second overall once in team history, in 2017 when they took Tag Bertuzzi.
Expect the team to take one of a select group of forwards in the draft. If you feel like Googling, check out the likes of Charlie Murata, Jaakko Wycisk, Camryn Warren and Brock Chitaroni.

Five priorities for the Guelph Storm this off-season:
- convince Lev Katzin to stay
- hope Jack Murtagh, (a ninth-round selection by Guelph in 2023) comes here.
- get an 18 year old NHL draft pick in the import draft
- draft a player in the top four of the OHL draft who will be a contributing factor by year two
- trade a 17 year old defenceman for a forward who can contribute offensively immediately

Nice home ice win last night. Jovanovski was pretty amazing in the last minute.
